| 【授業の目的と概要】 |

This is a beginning level course that systematically guides students through strategies and critical thinking skills that help prepare them for academic achievement. This course aims at enhancing learners’ active listening abilities by exposing them to language input in the form of real life conversations and assessing their understanding through practical listening activities. Using emerging digital media or computer assisted language learning (CALL) tools student can individually adjust the pace of their work to accommodate different proficiencies, aptitudes, and learning styles. Pronunciation is highlighted in every chapter, as an aid to improving both listening comprehension and speaking fluency. It also aims at promoting students’ fluency by simulating situations that encourage them to use language productively in discussions and presentations. |
| 【授業の方法】 |

Class meets twice a week = 1 Speaking Class + 1 Listening Class. In speaking class, students will do speaking activities with partners, do mini-presentations, and present speaking classwork and speaking homework. In listening class, students will do online listening labs. Students have the chance to do the lab multiple times, with the goal of raising their score as high as possible. |
