This upper-intermediate course is designed to advance public speaking and note-taking skills. The course requires groups and individual presentations on given topics. Paraphrasing and debate strategies are emphasized, with a focus on the nuance of language. Using emerging digital media or computer assisted language learning (CALL) tools students can individually adjust the pace of their work to accommodate different proficiencies, aptitudes, and learning styles. Interaction with native speakers is a requirement. Skills developed in this class are integrated into all other Level IV classes.

This class meets twice a week: 1 Speaking Class + 1 Listening Class.

In speaking class, students will do speaking activities with partners, mini-presentations, and present speaking classwork and speaking homework.

In listening class, students will do online listening labs. Students have the chance to do the labs multiple times, with the goal of raising their score as high as possible.
