This course aims at providing students ample amount of texts and contexts in a lively integrated setting to build their confidence in their ability to speak and write English accurately and fluently. The course focuses on the form, function and meaning of fundamental areas of grammar such as parts of speech and high frequency tenses. Formal rules of grammar are taught for accuracy in the use of language through extensive practice of new structures in a variety of contexts in order to internalize and master them, while communicative competence is ensured through extensive controlled and interactive exercises.

Participants will master the basic concepts of English grammar through extensive manipulation of elementary grammar structures. Class time largely consists of pair/group work and assignments, both of which require learners to select, edit, or explain the structures in everyday situations.
