This course expands on providing students ample amount of texts and contexts in a lively integrated setting to build their confidence in their ability to speak and write English accurately with fluency. The course focuses on the form, function and meaning of fundamental areas of grammar such as parts of speech and high frequency tenses. Formal rules of grammar are taught for accuracy in the use of language through extensive practice of new structures in a variety of contexts in order to internalize and master them, while communicative competence is ensured through extensive controlled and interactive exercises.

Students start class with a warm-up reviewing the concepts taught in the previous class. Then they do task-based exercises to familiarize themselves with the next concept. We often play a game or do an activity to further practice this concept together. Students often have a chance to begin their homework with teacher supervision during class.

Students are given verbal feedback during class, as well as scores for every classwork assignment, homework assignment, project and test.
